About Reflexology #01Reflexology has been practised for many years, dating back to 2500BC to the Egyptians who used to practise on each other.

In more recent times, reflexology has been greatly influenced by the work of Eunice Ingham, an American Physiotherapist. She built on the work done by Dr William Fitzgerald and Dr Joe Riley in the field of zone therapy. She used various pressure techniques and mapped out the now familiar foot chart for reflexology.

Reflexology is a holistic treatment in that it treats the person as a whole, so encompasses the body and soul. There are various reflex points on the feet and hands that correspond to reflexes throughout the body, and by working on these points, I can stimulate a particular area that needs help. Reflexology works on all of the systems on the body and also works in zones throughout the body. Reflexology can help to balance out the body and restore well being.

I cannot diagnose any problems and reflexology does not cure all ailments, but it can help to encourage your body to do the healing it needs.

Reflexology works well with many complaints, I can't list them all as you would get bored and stop reading! However, here are just a few complaints it may help with:

stress, anxiety, tension, depression, sleeplessness, hormone imbalances, menopause, period problems, fertility problems, prenancy related issues, arthritis, back pain, constipation, IBS and bladder complaints.

As you can see there is a wide range of problems that reflexology may be able to help with. If your particular ailment isn't there, I may still be able to help, please ask me.

Your first treatment will include a free consultation session. This is so that I can see where I need to focus a little more of my energies. The first treatment will be a gentle one so that I can see how you react to reflexology. Follow up treatments will then be discussed.

After reflexology you may feel on top of the world or you may feel slightly under the weather. If you do feel ill it is because the toxins are working their way out of your body and that is a good thing. It won't last forever and you will feel better afterwards.

My aim is to get you feeling great and your body working as it should be.

I hope that this has given you a good overview of reflexology, I could write pages and pages about it, but I haven't got the space! If there are any questions that you want to ask about reflexology, please contact me and I will try my best to answer them.
